Training: All people will perform better at their job when they understand the “why”.  Processes are improved when you understand how managing your incubators and hallways can impact the embryo and hatchling. Workshops can be developed to meet the needs of the hatchery personnel within your organization. Someone once said “You cannot manage what you do not understand”.

Problem solving: All too often problems can arise in a hatchery and you need help identifying the causes of your problems and then be able to devise a plan to change it.
Hatchery Consult was organized by Michael J. “Mike” Wineland. He was a PhD. graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he studied reproductive physiology of poultry. He has recently retired from the Prestage Department of Poultry Science at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina after 31 years as a faculty member of the department. While at NC State University Mike served as an Extension Specialist with responsibilities for serving the broiler breeder and hatchery industry in North Carolina, helping them to problem solve and provide educational opportunities.  He has studied and published scientific papers extensively on embryonic development and how the incubational processes influence the development of the embryo and subsequent performance of the hatchling during grow out
